I'd Rather be Reading...

You know I am an English teacher, right?

And you know that I love to read, right?

Well...

I am participating in a Historical Fiction Challenge in which I will read 15-20 historical fiction books this year and post a review.

If you are interesting in participating, please click here

I am thinking of starting with Girl with a Pearl Earring...

The Challenge: Week Dos

Oh, the Challenge...

And Challenge it is. I amazed at my weaknesses (as though I didn't know I had them).
I started out really strong. But being unemployed and staying at the house all day (with Leesh) can prove to be fatal to my healthy desires.

But, things I accomplished:
* I worked out almost everyday (I didn't work out on Wednesday, but I worked out twice on Thursday to make up for that. I also didn't work out on Friday, but that was pure laziness).
* I started training for a sprint triathlon that will take place in July in Miami. Sprint triathlons are shorter than traditional ones, so I think that it will be easier for me to be motivated because I won't be training for huge numbers.
* I wrote down what I ate and how much I exercised for most of the week. I forgot how time consuming this can be, but I have to do it.

Goals for this week:
* Workout 5 days a week (6 days is just a little too ambitious for me right now)
* Write down everything
* Try to get out of the house more! As mentioned before, staying in the house is my downfall.

I am ready for a new week!!

10 In 2010 Challenge

Remember when I wrote about the 10 in 10 Challenge a few weeks ago? And how Lori Lange challenged her readership?

It started today.

Every Saturday I am going to blog about the Challenge and how I did with my goals...I suppose I should tell you what my goals are...

Goals:
1. Exercise six times a week (I will give it a rest for the Sabbath)
2. Eat more fruits, veggies and filling foods
3. Lose 15-20 lbs
4. Be able to travel without going crazy and eating
5. Write everything down (what I eat and how much I exercise)

Rewards for achieving my goals:
1. Manicure and pedicure (wanna come with me?)
2. Haircut with my favorite stylist
3. Massages
4. New clothes
5. Traveling

So this is it. The Challenge will take us to the second week in March and hopefully there will be some great results and goals achieved!
(And by the way, the first day started out great. I worked out and went grocery shopping for healthy foods. I feel super motivated for the week!)

A Challenge...

I was perusing my blog list this morning and came upon one of my favorite blogs, Recipe Girl. She usually writes about recipes (so good!). But this morning she had a different type of post. She is putting together a challenge of healthier living called the Ten in 10. Basically, 10 weeks to a healthier life, starting on January 2, 2010.

I decided to join.

I know what you are thinking. And yes, I did have a running challenge last summer (although I didn't keep at it, I did manage to run 3 miles in 32 minutes). And yes, I did sponsor a Biggest Loser type challenge with my family (I don't know if I mentioned this, but Daniel won, losing about 25 lbs! I came in second with 15 lbs)...

But I always need something to motivate myself and I feel that this can be the challenge for the new year. I have some trips planned for January and February and hopefully this challenge will keep me on track during the trips.

My own personal slogan is "Getting my Rear in Gear" (I smile every time I say it).

Will you join me?
