The Weekend and Proposal(s)

My weekend started wonderfully and ended perfectly. Let me explain.

On Friday night The Cool Team went to Champs to watch some NCAA basketball. Good food, good company. Later that night, about 11 pm, Quinn and I ventured over to Wal-Mart to purchase Twilight, which came out at midnight. That's right people, I bought it the night it came out. I'm not ashamed to say it... We waited in line for a little while (it wasn't too bad) and shared in the glorious drama of teenage girls needing to buy the movie. Laura and I exchanged several phone calls to compare the crowds in Virginia to the ones in Gainesville. Gainesville won...
But alas, we did not watch it that night, there was too much to do on Saturday and I needed to go to bed early (ish).

Saturday was a day full of errands and shopping, and then some good grub at Texas Roadhouse. Have you tried their yeast rolls? Yum! A lot of ribs and chicken were devoured that night...

And I want to give a special shout-out to Peter, who always cares enough to let me know when he has read my blog....Don't worry, Peter, I will keep you entertained this summer! Stay tuned!

After dinner, the group went back to the house to watch Twilight. We all become 13 year old girls again (or for the first time for the boys). I think we all really felt Edward and Bella's love....

On Sunday afternoon, right after church, I began baking. I have received threats on my life if I don't post the recipes, so here you go:

Peanut Butter Cake (this one was declared the winner!!)
Flour-less Chocolate Cake (for the gluten challenged)
Cinnamon Bun Cookies (like Cinnabon!)
Cheesecake Squares (I would add some sort of fruit glaze to this one)
This was the spread:

Now let me tell you about the Peanut Butter Cake. I received four proposals of marriage after people tried this cake. Not for the faint heart, let me tell you...

The reason the weekend was so good is that it is my last weekend in DC. Well, not my last weekend, but Laura, Olga and my mom are coming into town this weekend to help me move back to Miami. So it was the perfect ending to my time in DC...

Dear Mandy's mom: Will you make me decorative coverings for my table for each major holiday? Wow, I just got so nostalgic looking at that St. Patrick's Day spread...
"Oh Mandy...." Miss you girls!
